Gorilla vs 100 Humans

Devlog

News and updates from the jungle, newest first.

New moves: kicks, parries and leap slams

The biggest combat update yet. The men now fight with jabs, crosses and front kicks when unarmed, and spearmen get a proper stab. Attack while in the air for a jump attack that hits 2.5 times as hard when you land. There's a double jump with a front flip, too.

Everyone can now parry: time it right and a blow from the front does nothing and staggers whoever threw it. Dodge gives the men a dive roll and the gorilla a back hop, with a short window where nothing can touch you.

The gorilla picked up hooks, crosses and an overhand throw, plus a leap slam that sends a shockwave out when he lands. He can jump about three metres now, straight up onto the rocks after anyone trying to hide. The roar slam shows a cooldown bar, so gorilla players know exactly when the next one is ready.

Also new: jungle-styled menus, proximity voice chat with a deep, monstrous voice changer for the gorilla player, glowing warning rings before each lightning strike, and much nastier blood sprays and splats.

Gorilla tiers, human classes and arena events

Four gorilla tiers: Silverback, Blackback Brute, Titan and Jungle King. Each one is bigger, tougher, stronger and faster than the last, and the top two can beat their chest with a roar that flattens nearby men. Beat a tier as the men to unlock the next.

The men now pick a class: the Brawler with extra health and heavy fists, the Spearman with longer reach, the Roper who nets the gorilla and ropes on from range, and the Medic who heals everyone nearby.

Every 45 to 70 seconds, the jungle throws something at the fight: a thunderstorm with lightning, reinforcements, gorilla rage, a supply drop of blades and spears, a rival gorilla that comes for the champion, or a giant tree that comes down with a shout of TIMBER. There are hidden net traps in the clearing too.

Rounds now end with a slow-motion kill-cam. There's a training yard for solo drills, taunts, a cosmetics shop, and a live leaderboard.

Sound, betting and progression

The jungle has a voice now. Every weapon has its own hit sound, the gorilla roars, growls and stomps, launched men yell and then thud into the ground, and thunder rolls in the distance. The music shifts from the menu into the fight, and a heartbeat kicks in when you're low on health.

Before every round there's a 12-second countdown, and that's your betting window. Bet coins on the gorilla, on the men, on the gorilla losing a limb, on 50 or more men surviving, or on a round that lasts over two minutes.

Your man and your gorilla each level up separately. Spend points on Strength, Agility and Toughness, and earn XP for hits, for hanging on, for taking limbs, and for winning. Online accounts keep your progress, coins and bets on our servers.

Welcome to the jungle

It started with the question everyone has argued about: could 100 men beat a gorilla? We're building the game that settles it.

One player is the gorilla. Up to seven more join as men, and the computer fills the crowd to a full hundred. The fight takes place in a flat clearing at the heart of a one-kilometre jungle, surrounded by cliffs, mountains and old stone ruins. Every limb that comes off is cut from the character's own body.
